Best social media plugin for wordpress

Social media has become a very important and vital element for all kinds of online marketing strategies.

Brands, small businesses and even bloggers now recognize the need for social engagement over search engine optimization.

It is therefore only logical to find social media share buttons on almost all online platforms; apps, mobile games, blogs, ecommerce sites and almost every other platform you can think of.

As a WordPress user you can easily utilize these social buttons to your website by simply selecting one out of the several social media plugins available on WordPress.

One would think the task of selecting a social plugin for a wordpress site would be an easy task but for some reason there is no perfect social plugin out there.

Some of us need beautiful buttons that matches the design of our site, while for some of us it is all about functionality, it doesn’t end there, some people prefer social plugins that will not slow down the site while some of us want the social plugin to use a URL shortener.

The definition of best social media plugin varies across various each user. For Don Caprio, the best social plugin must not depend on external resources to work and it should have no Javascript stored on the server, he couldn’t find one so he wrote and published his plugin – DC Simple Share Buttons.

For me the best social plugin must support integration with a URL Shortener and it must not slow my site down.

    Hi Bello,

Among the ones listed here, the one that I’ve been using consistently on some of my blogs is share buttons by AddThis. It is easy to set up, has some exciting features and is now improved, when it comes to performance related issues!

The other plugins you listed are also awesome, no doubts about that. At present, I’m also using a plugin called Async Social sharing. It is an asynchronous loading plugin and is good for performance oriented blogs.

Nice list. I found the link to it on Kingged.

I have used Shareaholic before but I uninstalled it. It didn’t work well at that time. But I guess I have to check it out today if there is an improvement. Thanks for the list. The number one is my favorite and I wanted to suggest it to everyone.

Digg Digg can be used with Twitter, Facebook, Buffer, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, Tumblr – just about any social channels you might use.

I found this post shared on Kingged.com, the Internet marketing social bookmarking site, and I “kingged” it and left this comment.

    Hi Bello,

I like Digg Digg. It seems to fit pretty well alongside most designs without taking too much focus away from the site.

I haven’t tested it a lot but I have seen some good results with it.

That said, “Add This” looks very cool. I may have to test that one out.

    Richard.
